No Remote, No Problem: Turn On Your Roku TV - TCL Roku TV Remote

No Remote, No Problem: Turn On Your Roku TV - TCL Roku TV Remote

Roku televisions have a variety of capabilities tucked away in their wires, and the user base greatly benefits from these features. Few Roku TV users know that turning these televisions on or off is possible even without the remote control.

Just use a usual TV remote, a smartphone application, or just press the power button on your TV to switch on your Roku TV. The power button is typically located in the center of the TV’s underside. You can also check the TV’s left, right, rear, underside, front, or back if it is not there.

It didn’t take me long to understand that these tips would be helpful for people who have lost their remote or are trying to figure out how to effectively utilize an intelligent gadget to control their television.

How to switch on Roku TV without a remote? Can be answered in detail in this post.

How to Locate the Roku TV’s Power Button?

If you’ve misplaced your Roku remote, you can still switch on your TV by pushing the power button on the device itself.

The location of the power button on your TV will ultimately depend on the year, model, and manufacturer. Verify these four key areas (note that no matter which direction you follow, you must be looking at the front of the TV).

Typically, you may find the power button for your Roku TV under the center of the screen. The location is highly obscure, and many people are unaware it exists. Do not panic if you are having problems locating it.

Center, Base

Depending on your TV’s model, it may be farther forward or back on the bottom. Simply search around beneath there till you locate it.

Back, Right Side of The Television

I’d be willing to guess that the power button for your Roku TV is located in the back right corner of the device if you looked everywhere and still couldn’t find it.

Look at the back of your TV on the right side, angled a little bit away from the wall. The power button might be situated there. If not, check the back right side; also look in the back left.

The power button on the Roku is oddly placed and challenging to find; you might as well purchase a remote control if you lack patience.

TV’s Left Side and Back

Look to the left of the television to see whether there is a power button for your Roku. Move your TV a little to the left to see the left side of the back. A little button must be present there. Check out this if you have a Sanyo Roku TV!

Left-Front, Below

If you still can’t locate it, check the receiver on the front left side, underneath the Roku TV (where the remote connects). Behind that receiver is a little power button that’s often hard to miss.

Check out this table to know where the power button is usually placed on the Roku TV:

Does Roku TV have Power Buttons?

Not every model of Roku TV has power buttons. As stated in the table above, RCA and Element doesn’t have, while TCL and Hisense Roku TV is equipped with a physical power button you can press, usually located at the back or the bottom surface.

The Roku TV User Guide

You might need to refer to the user guide for your Roku TV’s model number and year.

Your TV’s model number is often located on the rear. Google the model number, brand, and “user manual” together. A graphic will most likely detail each button in your TV’s handbook.

I agree that using the power button is annoying since you have to walk over to the television each time you want to watch tv. Fortunately, there is another approach, but it requires the Roku app on your phone.

Application for Roku TV

The RoByte app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store on Android. Users of iOS and iPadOS can download the Roku RoKie app from the Apple AppStore.

After downloading, you only need to start the app and connect it to your TV. All you have to do to complete this simple process is tap on the TV that the application has identified.

You only need to press the red power button on the digital remote once the television is connected. These instructions can be used to power cycle the Roku TV for those unable to connect it to the Roku app.

  • Close the remote app and unplug the Roku TV from the outlet.
  • Insert the plug into the proper socket.
  • The typical Roku TV connects to the Roku application in 30 seconds, so be patient.

The app should now operate on your device as a programmable remote without a hitch.

Cable or Satellite Remote

There’s a chance that a spare remote you have laying around will be helpful in the Roku TV. Start by using the remote to switch the device on and off.

In certain circumstances, you might be able to use a few buttons, such as the power button and the numbers, but most aren’t made to work with a Roku TV.

To program the TV, you must have a list of all the Roku channels and their channel numbers. On the Roku support website, a manual is available.

What to do when you lose your remote to your Roku TV?

Purchasing a Roku TV remote to replace the missing one is your final choice. Although this approach costs money, it is fail-safe. You can always hunt for a remote online or request one from your dealer.

Without your Roku remote, you can use one of these various techniques to turn on or off your Roku TV. When your remote is out of reach, pairing your newly bought remote with your Roku TV won’t work. Once done, you can reset the TV using that remote. Just re-pair your remote if it doesn’t work the first time you try.

On the other hand, you might still have the defective Roku TV remote with you. If so, you should fix it by following the steps I’ve enlisted here: Fixing a Non-Responsive TCL Roku TV Remote (Step-by-Step). You may always contact the Roku customer service department for more details.
